It mixed the emotional scenes very well with the comedic scenes, and didn't try to use your sense of nostalgia to try and force an emotional reaction from you, which is very good.

However the movie isn't without faults (even if they are only minor) in my opinion the over use of flashbacks was not welcome, I would have been fine with one or two of them, but I believe they added a few too many overall, and I know Pixars story writers can add backstory in a more clever and original way if they tried, also, as good as the story is I personally felt it was a bit rushed, not as bad as some other films but I feel like just another 10-15 minutes of character development for some other characters wouldn't have gone amiss. This is a fantastic movie and has some very good characters, my personal favorites are Destiny the whale shark and Hank the octopus, however Marlin, Nemo and Dory are still fantastic characters and will always have a special place in my heart due to having such an impact on my childhood. This movie, is breathtaking both visually and in a storytelling sense, this is the classic Pixar that I knew as a child, it fondly reminds you of the original movie and then kicks you straight into a wonderful new one with colourful characters and an entirely knew, but all too similar world, along with a completely new setting that hadn't really been explored before.
